About Bluets in June: Depicts Houstonia & Vitis riparia with the spores of Dryad’s Saddle/Polyporous Squamosus. Bluets flower briefly in mid-spring, carpeting the new grass with tiny purple four-petaled flowers. Some stretch as tall as 6 inches, but most stay close to the ground. I love their hopeful arrival; even if only for a few weeks, they always show up. I quickly forget about bluets when larger, showier flowers emerge. The departure of bluets means summer is here. I created this bluet series, to help me remember sweet bluets all year long. Part of the New Herbarium series, my interpretation of the practice of preserving and presenting plants. Inspiration for this series came from Emily Dickinson’s Herbarium.
